Work-In-Progress Wednesday

Well, I finally made some progress on a picture book that I've been working on, like, forever this week. I got it down to 500 words! Which, of course, is also the word count limit for the 3rd Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories Contest. Yeah, I went ahead and took the plunge and entered the contest. Today. The last day to enter. Yeah, I procrastinated till the end. I really have to stop that. But folks, there's still time if you, too, want to go ahead and take a chance. The deadline is 11:59 p. m. (Central Time).

And to all who have already entered: GOOD LUCK!

:)

Oh, good for you Crystal. If you ever want feedback on a PB, I'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks, Corey! You know, I may just take you up on that offer soon. I know I probably should have gotten a critique on this PB before I sent it in to the contest. *Sigh* I really gotta kick that procrastination habit . . . :)

Jennifer--Thanks!

hey :) i'm trying to write a picture book as part of a list of goals to complete, and i was wondering if you have any tips on where to get started? I'm just a bit stumped on what makes a good children's story.

Contests are such a great way to stretch ourselves. And if we win, that's a bonus! BTW, I love your quote of the month. (And thanks for sharing a comment on my blog! I loved hearing how you got started with writing!)

You're welcome, Jody! Thanks for stopping by! Glad you like the quote, too.

All the very best Crystal. I hope you will post an update if you hear good news. I think you are a winner though for entering. That is half the battle! Children's books are hard to write. I have had a go at that. Maybe one day....

Thanks for those good wishes, Tabitha! I will post something if I hear good news. Yes, children's books are definitely hard to write. So many people think it's easy because it's kids you're writing for, but in fact, it's the exact opposite!

Thanks for stopping by and glad to meet you!
